Douglas Fir Grove

This riparian zone property is five acres, with one acre dedicated to human activities and four acres left undisturbed for wildlife.  The property is at the urban wildlife boundary, with an undeveloped riparian buffer upriver all the way to the headwaters of the river.

The Douglas Fir grove is the most accessible and highest point of the property and where the human activity is taking place.

This area of the property is categorized by a uniqueness of a flora, with a stand of centennial douglas firs, lots of salal, oregon grape, huckleberry and the only specimens of wild honeysuckle on the property.

The first years of this project involved months of Himalayan blackberry removal and arbor work of several of the trees.   And the introduction of a temporary shelter, a 24 ft Pacific Yurt.
